School-based Innovations: Our CVIF Experience* M. Victoria Carpio-Bernido and Christopher C. Bernido

As for any educational enterprise, the philosophy and motivation for our work in the Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF) High School 1strongly influenced the conceptualization and implementation of the school’s educational program and policies, choice of pedagogical strategies and innovations. When we took over the management of the school in 1999, we thought deeply on the short-term and long-term goals we wanted to achieve. We knew that: “It is important not only to be moving, but to be moving in the right direction; not only to be doing something well, but to be doing something worth while.” 2
